E-Reflection 5

This week has been hectic and full of projects, presentations and many more artsy stuff that i cannot remember but is very happy that i don't need to see it again.

Planes... Planes... AND MORE PLANES...

Previously during 3D fundamentals , we did on wires which were extremely tiring as the wires were very difficult to bend. This time, we are doing on a new type of 3D structure which is paper planes.
There are curved planes, Broken planes, neutral planes and complex planes.
There is also 2D structures and 3D structures.
I have a lot of trouble when I'm doing the 2D structure but i finally broke through.(:
Im kind of afraid to use pen knives as i had bad experience with one of them before when i was younger but i have to step out of that and be brave!

Then later on that day i got my results for my grade5 piano and i have gotten a merit for the first time, which is a surprise as i never thought i would do that well as normally i would just get. Yeay! from this i have now more confidence to excel and do better in the future (:

CREATIVE FOOD THINKING

For 2 weeks so far, we have been doing food-related projects thats really fun as we get to think of the weirdest ideas to be placed in menu which we are supposed to create!!The ideas we came out was with orange juice and cheezels, which is just plain gross but creative! Then for this week, we have to build a tower out of uncooked pasta and we must put a marshmallow on the top of the tower. IF it still stays the same and not fall plus one group member eats the marshmallow without the tower falling, it means that the tower is a success!!! AND IT IS! (: YEAY!

ANDDDDDD to award myself, my friend treated me a vanilla cone which so happens to be a PURPLE CONE, which is one of my favourite colours!

Then for Drawing Fundamentals, I did a Artpop themed still life drawing because i didn't like the dull brown and beige colours that the original picture has... I enjoy sprinkling the paint in the back ground as it shows vibrancy and joy!

BACK TO NIE I GO>>>

So I'm back in NIE and i always enjoy the views and scenery of NIE outside of my class.
This time we did on Charcoal which is also my first time too and its kind of difficult cause I'm not used to using so many different Thickness of charcoals in one picture. The picture that I'm supposed to show below is actually a marble but it just looks like a witch crystal ball. Im not really good with shadows and reflection but i will try my best to improve and I MUST IMPROVE!!! As always, NIE lessons are much more fun compared to the foundation programmes I'm going through currently ><

So this marks the end of my week of artsy stress week, I'm glad i made it through alive and handing all my homework and presentations on time. Hopefully next week will be a less stress week. Im just glad this week there are some lessons cancelled and it ends earlier , which means i get more sleep !!! YEAY

E-reflection 4

ARTSY WEEK

I have been in my new school for 4 weeks now and I'm still fine with how the school works.Though every current module are mostly drawing and thinking related... i got kind of sick even though i LOVE to draw and doodle. All my imaginations are being stuck to my mind and i cannot think of anything nice to draw. But this week is one of the most Artsy week among all (:

CREATIVE THINKING YAY!!

The week before we went for some sort of adventure around the area of the school in search of finding the listed items that we all were given by our creative thinking teacher. We went around and got to have lots of fun and ended up with a funny and awesome story about 3 princesses with strange names. It was really fun to be with a different group of classmates which now we became good friends.

So this week we did a presentation on our funny stories... later that day we changed groups and were given new tasks to complete which is to think of ways to mix 2 totally different food items together and make it either a Appetiser, Main Course or Dessert. My group was given a carton of Orange juice and Cheezels, which was both quite random and we thought of funny ideas which we thought together, 5 minds in 1 for 50 totally different ideas. It was mind-boggling but i enjoyed it as we thought of disgusting food products that did not make us hungry at all. We were ALL crazy while we were doing this. After that we had to make a menu for the dishes we selected for each of the titles, we did a classy C.O. cafe menu to represent our whacky ideas.

DRAWING AND MORE DRAWING BOOP

For drawing fundamentals, we were told to sketch still life which was the items shown below. At first i thought it was not going to be easy, but to my delight, it was simple and the teacher guided us when we needed some opinions and views. Im not really good at shading shadows for either objects or living things, hence this is kind of a new experience and i learnt a lot through this particular lesson.
I also learnt that there are many views to a simple structure and there are infinite ways to shade it.

NEW ENVIRONMENT FOR ARTSY

Today is my first art lesson in NIE and I'm pretty pumped for the lesson as i am told it is really fun and enjoyable. I had to travel really far to the school but it was all enjoyable as i spent it with my art teaching clique.

We were told to draw Rubiks cubes within a certain amount of time, which was 3mins, 2.5mins, 2 mins, 1.5mins, 1min and 30 secs respectively in 3 modes which was to draw in different viewpoints.
I did not know what is this activity was suppose to be about but in the end the teacher told us that he wanted to train us to draw sketches according to the students as children daily loses concentration after 3mins max and 30sec minimum. It was pretty simple as i can do sketches easily and with this awesome exercise, i learnt to sketch faster and more accurate. The teacher can see our personality through this 18 sketches, which made me shocked at how accurate it is.

I did some sketches of a novel that I'm writing, i sketched on humans in the MRT as i wanted to have a more realistic look to my characters.
This marks the end of my Artsy week, hopefully next week will be more Artsy as always <:

E-REFLECTION 3

As humans, we have to keep ourselves healthy and fit to ensure our survivor in the world. But plainly eating vegetables and running in the gyms isn't good enough

Hence my father, a sports enthusiast, took us to our monthly hiking at either Hort Park or Bukit Timah to set our hearts racing and our sweat glands working. This time he took us to hike the long and gruelling hort park route towards vivocity.

As we hiked up the route towards the first checkpoint, i looked around my surroundings and i noticed that no 2 trees are simliar to each other even though every tree is green, tall and tough.
Each tree has its own history, its own past that no one knows, they braved through years of climate change and with each drastic change that were pressed onto them, they survive through it and stands all and proud, growing more incredibly strong each time.
We walked on a metal bridge which is built high up above the green forest, the metal floorings of the bridge is made up of strips of metal instead of a plain metal plate, this allows us to see whats beneath us. This showcases the entire forest from all around us, telling us to see all sides of our surroundings instead of just in one direction.

I love how the Sunlight lies perfectly on the green objects, reflecting perfectly off it green leaves, showing that it is very energetic and happy even though they don't move too much unless there is wind or a slight breeze blowing against it.
There was also some flowers which makes it more adorable and beautiful in its green surroundings.
The flowers were so small and normally people would walk pass it, this is to show that people should notice the small things in life rather than the big picture. I love that some trees has drooping branches and roots, making it look really old even though maybe it is. The air around here is extremely nice, it feel untouched by the poisonous gases outside its forest realms. we can take deep breathes cause nothing in the air can kill us.

Even the small roads in between the forests are empty, which makes me kind of relieve cause I'm sick of seeing cars on the road. The silence is absolutely precious. I also like the twining of the week branches around the strong ones, like a baby around its mother for support.

As we were walking towards the last checkpoint before reaching vivocity, we were near mount faber where the cable cars are. From the view above the busy area, It is actually really nice, breathtaking actually after climbing hills over hills, mountains over mountains. It is really windy and the scenery is really unforgettable. Its paradise where i stood and i wouldn't mind climbing it again.

This marks the end of the hike, i certainly enjoyed myself and i look forward to climbing it again with my family and hopefully the air is still the same when i come back (:

Reflection 2 (:

THE JOURNEY TO THE WEST

During the Weekends, we wanted to go somewhere different from what we usually do as the next day is Hari Raya Celebration and none of my family members are required to go to work or school. We travelled from Bugis all the way to Marina at Keppel Bay.

Bugis

We first went to bras brash to get something to eat. We had some vouchers for Jack's place and we get to eat something special. I had a King snapper fillet with butter cream sauce. It was something different from what i would usually order but it was nice. The soup was the Cream of Potato which is one of my favourite staple food. Then for dessert, we had a small tiny piece of cream cheese cake with a ripple of strawberry jam on it creamy top. i always liked chocolate based cake hence my favouritism to it. I also noticed that the ripple of strawberry on the top of the cream is all identical to each other which make me think that it requires a lot of effort to do duplicates of the exact same stripe on it white background. It also reminds me of the drawing modules i had learnt so far in the first week, lines and dots, proportion and space. The workers must have loved their job so much to make every item on the plates served as identical as possible to refrain any trouble which may arise from this.

Marina At Keppel Bay

After we ate, we went to Marina at keppel bay as we had seen keppel bay on the television and it seemed very luxurious. I really want to see it for myself if there is such place where people have boating license like in spongebob squarepants and they had boats to travel around in the seas , away from the busy singapore life. When we reached there, it was really quiet and serene, there weren't much people sows went to have high tea at the TCC on the second floor. I had the Summer Citrus while my family had Calming spirit tea and Peppermint Tea. With the serenity and silence with the coolness of the air-conditioned place where we relaxed, enjoying the ballads playing in the background of the cafe, i actually thought that my stress and worries went away and i have escaped into my own new wonderland, like alice in wonderland. When i look out from the cafe, there were many boats docked at the pier. One of the reasons why we came to Keppel bay out of the blues is because we heard about the waters around the bay is so clean and fresh, corals grew beneath the base of the pier and marine life lived with and around the living corals. There was an entire eco-system for marine animals beneath the busy and all man-made singapore.

i love this photo cause of the sun rays which hit perfectly and timely when i took the photo.

Also, in the process, i thought about what people do just to get this serenity. The place is not even near any public transport , so unless u have a car to drive in, u have to walk beside condos just to get to the pier itself. It amazes me that people work so hard to earn money just to get the peace and sense of freedom just for a while before being pulled back into the harsh working world where they cannot breathe.
I absolutely love the colour gradient of the summer citrus drink, from the deepest shade of orange to the light yellowish orangey look. I also love the the teas colour are both the same and easily mistaken for another but the smell is different. There were also some flowers growing near the cafe and i loved it so much. it was like it was hanging down from the sky leisurely and had no care in the world... i always want to be a flower cause when they bloom, they receive compliments from people who they have just met. And also a flower is beautiful due to its natural gradient of colours which suit each other perfectly. The branches around the flowers were like hands carrying it fruit before letting them go . I also loved the water as they hit against the pier, i like the colour and movement of the water.

We had a selfie moment at the pier. i loved each and every moment, cherishing every moment i have with my family. It so happens that we had a blue day, from the lightest shade of blue to the darkest shade of blue. 5 shades of blue (;

Then we went to Upper Pierce Reservoir for a drive. On the way to the place, we saw some monkeys lazing around in the trees and in the grass. This particular family caught my eyes as there was a baby monkey clinging onto the its mother. It is absolutely adorable as i have never seen this before, this shows even animals take care of their families and keep them safe away from harm.

This makes the end of my week 2 journey and I'm looking forward for what may come next week . Hopefully i get to see something new and artistic (:
